“Read one man’s journey from military life into Christian ministry while suffering the loss of his first wife to colon cancer, then his second wife to pancreatic cancer, yet without completely losing hope. Throughout this story, the author provides practical advice from his experiences to caregivers, the bereaved, and to those called into ministry. Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and an occasional angel play starring roles, while the author is merely a spectator. Expect at times to cry, to laugh, to become angry and to rejoice as this gritty narrative unfolds. It may cause you to think deeply about what is most important in this life, and, possibly, to look forward to unexpected adventures beyond the dark times of grief that confront all mankind.”
This was my first foray into the world of line editing book manuscripts. Up until this point, I had copy edited academic papers and whatnot, but never a full book. But when my father reached out to me for help with editing this, I welcomed the challenge. It was difficult, not because of the work so much as the nature of the content. It is a rather raw retelling of events that have had a lasting impact on our family.
Further complicating the process was the fact that whoever had originally agreed to put together the cover dropped out, and I, with my meager skill at photo editing, took on that challenge as well. I am much more adept at editing manuscripts than images, but we agreed that it came out well enough.
